There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Giovanni El-Hadi a full 41 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The Jackson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Landon Jackson in pick No. 51 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick 83 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
A clean, defensible pick in the 115th pick with a little surplus value in Wyatt Milum. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Sonny Styles at No. 123, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Jasheen Davis in the 147th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for CJ Dippre in pick 179, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Giovanni El-Hadi this early at the 211th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
