Nobody else had Donovan Jennings anywhere near Round 7, Pick 35. The Packers did, by 37 spots, and that gap is the whole story. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. However the rest shakes out, Fashanu at that price is a win they earned.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
In pick 25 they get a long-term starter on the line, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 28
Kool-Aid McKinstry at the 42nd overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 74
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 97
A conviction pick on Roger Rosengarten at slot 88 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 102
They liked Ben Sinnott enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 28. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Mohamed Kamara · DL-EDGE · rank 114
A reach for Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 104; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 131
Malik Mustapha at the 123rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 139
They jumped the gun on Elijah Jones, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.2 · Pick 138 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 154
Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 138 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 188
Value said wait; Khristian Boyd in the 169th pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 216
They went early on Joe Milton III in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
Trey Taylor in No. 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.18 · Pick 238 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 250
They paid up for Trente Jones at slot 238 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jowon Briggs · DT · rank 271
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jowon Briggs well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Donovan Jennings · OT · rank 292
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donovan Jennings this early at pick No. 255. A need, and now a little less of one.
