The Packers' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it.
Carter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
Reaching for Spencer left real value on the table behind him.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Barrett Carter at Round 2, Pick 19 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Tate Ratledge. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Shemar Turner. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Hunter Wohler in No. 98, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Baron went about where he belonged in the 115th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Malik Spencer at the 120th pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Raheim Sanders in slot 126; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Zion Nelson in pick 147; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Justin Walley at the 179th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
KJ Jefferson in pick No. 211 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
