There is a lot to like until you notice running back is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most.
If Grimes pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They liked Tate Ratledge enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 52. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Jonah Monheim at Round 3, Pick 19, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Jack Kiser at par in the 115th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Gentry Williams in No. 116 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
T.J. Sanders in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tony Grimes at pick 179 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
The board had cheaper options than Shawn Murphy at slot 187, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
KJ Jefferson at No. 211 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
