The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Hunter Wohler, the No. 93 name on the board, sitting there at pick 147 like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. They will need Stutsman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Danny Stutsman at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Josh Conerly Jr. in slot 83, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Jonah Monheim at the 115th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Hunter Wohler in the 147th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Zion Nelson in No. 179 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Burch a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
