This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Rylie Mills, the No. 96 name on the board, stolen at No. 211. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
TreVeyon Henderson in the 53rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in pick No. 58: Walter Nolen for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Jaxson Dart come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A edge rusher of that caliber at slot 115 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a linebacker like Jamon Dumas-Johnson reach pick 117 and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jonah Monheim in No. 147 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Shemar Turner at Round 5, Pick 21 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Wyatt Milum at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Rylie Mills was still sitting there in the 211th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jack Kiser at Round 7, Pick 26 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
