Somebody in pick No. 179 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Ashton Gillotte, the No. 46 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Kader Kohou deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Travis Hunter and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Tyleik Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Walter Nolen at Round 3, Pick 19 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Jamon Dumas-Johnson at slot 115 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Jonah Monheim in pick 147 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Ashton Gillotte was still sitting there in No. 179, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Wyatt Milum in the 211th overall pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
