You could see the war room lean forward. Walter Nolen at slot 115 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The Packers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In the end it comes back to Will Johnson, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach pick No. 89 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at No. 115 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jamon Dumas-Johnson was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 22, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They robbed the room for Jonah Monheim here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Shemar Turner at the 162nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Zion Nelson in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 185th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Bryce Foster at slot 211 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
