Somebody in Round 6, Pick 19 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Wyatt Milum, the No. 112 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Every board in the league had Grimes lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Barrett Carter at slot 51. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Walter Nolen reach pick No. 83 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jonah Monheim in the 115th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Tony Grimes at No. 147, and the board is aghast. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Wyatt Milum at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dorian Strong in pick 211 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
