Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tyleik Williams got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 51st pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Rice proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Harold Perkins Jr. at slot 19 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Tyleik Williams in the 51st overall pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Jonah Monheim in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Wyatt Milum went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Zach Rice at pick 147 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 179, where Fentrell Cypress II graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Ali Jennings enough to skip the value, taking him in the 211th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
