Nobody else had Chantz Williams anywhere near the 211th pick. The Packers did, by 59 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Uiagalelei steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get a green-dot type in the middle. More want than need.
They took Tate Ratledge at par in the 53rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jonah Monheim in Round 3, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Hancock. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jasheen Davis at slot 147 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach on Thor Griffith in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
DJ Uiagalelei slipping to the 179th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Chantz Williams at pick 211, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
