The Packers spent real capital to be 67 picks early on Julian Fleming, and the board is going to hold them to it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
However the rest shakes out, Dart at that price is a win they earned. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Will Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Harold Perkins Jr. at slot 51 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Tyleik Williams in No. 52, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at pick No. 84 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at pick 85 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jonah Monheim at slot 115 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Ashton Gillotte was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Shemar Turner in Round 4, Pick 21 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Rylie Mills at the 147th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at the 148th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Jaxson Dart in No. 149 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jack Kiser in the 179th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 180 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Julian Fleming at pick No. 211 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Connor Colby well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Bru McCoy at Round 7, Pick 21 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
