Green Bay Packers

Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Chantz Williams in slot 211. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Uiagalelei at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 26
In slot 19 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Ashton Gillotte · DL-EDGE · rank 46
Ashton Gillotte at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 83
They did well to land Deontae Lawson in No. 86, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.19 · Pick 115 · J. Michael Sturdivant · WR · rank 111
J. Michael Sturdivant at Round 4, Pick 19 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.21 · Pick 117 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 118
Nicholas Singleton in the 117th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.19 · Pick 147 · DJ Uiagalelei · QB · rank 107
Circle this one: DJ Uiagalelei at the 147th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.21 · Pick 149 · Armand Membou · OT · rank 163
A reach on Armand Membou in slot 149; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.19 · Pick 179 · Fentrell Cypress II · CB · rank 183
Fentrell Cypress II in Round 6, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.19 · Pick 211 · Chantz Williams · DL-EDGE · rank 293
Chantz Williams at the 211th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
