The Packers went off the board in a big way for Sai'vion Jones, 150 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Riley. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
Tate Ratledge in pick No. 55 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in slot 87: Jamon Dumas-Johnson for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Quincy Riley in No. 119 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Davin Vann at the 166th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Fentrell Cypress II in the 183rd overall pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Trikweze Bridges in the 215th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sai'vion Jones in slot 219 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
