Call it larceny. Tre Harris sat on the board until slot 219, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.
The cost of the Jones reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They will replay Tyleik Williams at pick No. 55 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quinshon Judkins at slot 87 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Oscar Delp in the 91st pick, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Ashton Gillotte here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jonah Monheim in Round 4, Pick 27 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Deontae Lawson at the 151st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Bryce Foster in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Xavian Sorey Jr. worth more than the price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in the 216th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Rylie Mills still on the board at slot 217. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to pick 218, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Tre Harris in the 219th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Julian Fleming in No. 220 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dorian Strong in Round 7, Pick 29. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Sai'vion Jones in pick No. 222, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zion Nelson in pick No. 223 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Bru McCoy at Round 7, Pick 32 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
