This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tre Harris, the No. 44 name on the board, stolen at the 216th pick. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Will Johnson was still sitting there in the 24th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
In pick No. 26 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jack Sawyer at slot 55 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Danny Stutsman at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 90th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Walter Nolen at Round 4, Pick 23 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jonah Monheim in No. 120, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Etienne at pick 122 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Rylie Mills at pick No. 151 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 155 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Deontae Lawson all the way to No. 183, and they scooped it up. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Wyatt Milum reach Round 6, Pick 26 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Bryce Foster still on the board at the 215th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Tre Harris in pick 216 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
