The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Ashton Jeanty, the No. 48 name on the board, sitting there at pick 215 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Davis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Mykel Williams at slot 55 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 87 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Barrett Carter in Round 3, Pick 26 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Ashton Gillotte in pick 122, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jonah Monheim reach the 142nd overall pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Jasheen Davis at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyler Baron in the 183rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Aydan White in slot 184 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Hancock at Round 7, Pick 14 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Ashton Jeanty at pick 215 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
