Thirty-one other rooms let TreVeyon Henderson slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at slot 87. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Nelson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Taking Denzel Burke in slot 55 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
TreVeyon Henderson in the 87th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Oscar Delp at par in Round 4, Pick 23, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jacobee Bryant in pick No. 151 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jack Kiser at the 183rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A wild overpay on Zion Nelson in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
