Green Bay Packers

The Packers robbed the room for Stewart. Final grade: D-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Evan Stewart slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the Round 3 slot. Highway robbery.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Reaching for Rice left real value on the table behind him. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 11
In pick 23 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
R1.24 · Pick 24 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 59
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. The roster fit checks out.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Evan Stewart · WR · rank 26
You do not let a wide receiver like Evan Stewart reach No. 87 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.23 · Pick 119 · Davison Igbinosun · CB · rank 129
A premium they did not need to pay, Davison Igbinosun a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.24 · Pick 120 · Jonah Monheim · OT · rank 132
A conviction pick on Jonah Monheim at pick No. 120 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.23 · Pick 151 · Zach Rice · OG · rank 167
The board had cheaper options than Zach Rice at the 151st overall pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.27 · Pick 155 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 163
A reach on Bryce Foster in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.23 · Pick 183 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 197
Zy Alexander at slot 183 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.23 · Pick 215 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 220
No drama and no debate, Cody Simon went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R7.24 · Pick 216 · Malik Spencer · CB · rank 231
Malik Spencer in Round 7, Pick 24 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
