Call it larceny. Drew Allar sat on the board until No. 124, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Moore to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Tate Ratledge in the 55th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Elic Ayomanor slid further than he should have, and pick 87 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It fills a real need, too.
A reach for Derrick Moore in the 88th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Raheim Sanders in No. 101, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 119 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Drew Allar at pick No. 124 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Davison Igbinosun at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 151 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Hunter Wohler higher than slot 183, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Connor Colby in the 215th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
