Green Bay Packers

The Packers turned the phones into found money: B-.

The Packers bet big and early on Savion Williams, 59 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · James Pearce Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 2
In the 23rd overall pick they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.24 · Pick 24 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 3
In pick No. 24 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 57
A straight-up fair deal on Tate Ratledge at pick 55, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Trevor Etienne · RB · rank 73
Trevor Etienne is a better player than Round 3, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.23 · Pick 119 · J. Michael Sturdivant · WR · rank 92
Steal is underselling it; J. Michael Sturdivant at the 119th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.24 · Pick 120 · Dasan McCullough · LB · rank 93
Dasan McCullough at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.23 · Pick 151 · Jonah Monheim · OT · rank 140
Jonah Monheim at the 151st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.24 · Pick 152 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 166
A premium they did not need to pay, Domani Jackson a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.25 · Pick 153 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 123
Nick Emmanwori at pick 153 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.27 · Pick 155 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 175
Alfred Collins at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.31 · Pick 159 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 177
Bryce Foster at pick No. 159 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
R6.23 · Pick 183 · Julian Fleming · WR · rank 176
Fair-plus on Julian Fleming, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
R6.25 · Pick 185 · Thor Griffith · DT · rank 191
Thor Griffith in Round 6, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.10 · Pick 202 · Brady Cook · QB · rank 209
They took Brady Cook at par in slot 202, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.20 · Pick 212 · CJ Dippre · TE · rank 214
CJ Dippre at slot 212 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.21 · Pick 213 · Lander Barton · LB · rank 221
A reach for Lander Barton in the 213th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.22 · Pick 214 · Connor Colby · OG · rank 228
Connor Colby at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.23 · Pick 215 · Turner Corcoran · OT · rank 254
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Turner Corcoran. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.24 · Pick 216 · Jake Johnson · TE · rank 262
They reached a country mile for Jake Johnson at Round 7, Pick 24, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.25 · Pick 217 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 244
Value said wait; Cody Simon in the 217th pick says they were not listening. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.26 · Pick 218 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 277
Savion Williams in No. 218 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.29 · Pick 221 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 219
No drama and no debate, Zy Alexander went about where he belonged in pick No. 221. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
