The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Cam Ward slide 96 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Bridges reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The veteran additions, Fred Warner chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Kevin Winston Jr. at No. 23, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
JT Tuimoloau in Round 2, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Tate Ratledge in pick 62, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, T.J. Sanders at pick No. 94. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for J. Michael Sturdivant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Raheim Sanders at slot 120 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A clean, defensible pick in the 126th overall pick with a little surplus value in Rylie Mills. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Tyler Baron in the 151st pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Cam Ward all the way to pick No. 183, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gentry Williams at Round 6, Pick 26 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trikweze Bridges at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Cody Simon at slot 223, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
