Call it larceny. Drew Allar sat on the board until pick 151, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.
The Carter pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Nothing to complain about; Tate Ratledge went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A curious use of No. 87. Edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Barrett Carter did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Donovan Edwards at Round 3, Pick 31 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nick Emmanwori at pick 119 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for Drew Allar here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in slot 183, where Domani Jackson graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Zy Alexander at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
