Green Bay Packers

The Packers let Ward fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Call it larceny. Cam Ward sat on the board until No. 151, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Dippre pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 25
In pick 23 they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Parker Brailsford · C · rank 74
Parker Brailsford at slot 63 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Trevor Etienne · RB · rank 76
A tidy bit of business in the 87th pick, where Trevor Etienne graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 82
The board had Shilo Sanders higher than pick No. 94, and the safety fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.28 · Pick 124 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 114
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Wyatt Milum at Round 4, Pick 28 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.23 · Pick 151 · Cam Ward · QB · rank 91
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Cam Ward in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.23 · Pick 183 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 195
A premium they did not need to pay, Theo Wease Jr. a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.28 · Pick 188 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 201
Alfred Collins at the 188th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.20 · Pick 212 · Hunter Wohler · S · rank 206
Hunter Wohler at the 212th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.22 · Pick 214 · Thor Griffith · DT · rank 227
Thor Griffith in the 214th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.23 · Pick 215 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 211
Good price on Jack Kiser in Round 7, Pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R7.30 · Pick 222 · CJ Dippre · TE · rank 236
A conviction pick on CJ Dippre at pick 222 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
