The rest of the league had time to spare on Antario Brown; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 69 spots ahead at the Round 7 slot. The final tally is a middling C+.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Carter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Value with a capital V on Colston Loveland in the 78th pick, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid a round early for Maxwell Hairston in Round 4, Pick 13, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
LT Overton at No. 159 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalon Walker in slot 186, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Antario Brown at pick 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tory Horton this early at Round 7, Pick 34. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Sage Ryan in slot 252, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach for Will Howard in pick No. 253; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
