Thirty-one other rooms let Haynes King slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at No. 248. Highway robbery. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Davis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Deontae Lawson in the 47th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They talked themselves into Tacario Davis at pick No. 78, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Abdul Carter at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Davison Igbinosun here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nic Anderson at the 186th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Haynes King all the way to No. 248, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
