There is reaching, and then there is Nick Jackson at slot 254. The Packers jumped the board by 225 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
Loveland at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Wyatt Milum went about where he belonged in the 38th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Abdul Carter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 66 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyleik Williams in Round 3, Pick 22 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Colston Loveland at pick 125 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 126 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
A clean, defensible pick in the 160th pick with a little surplus value in Nic Anderson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tony Grimes at Round 6, Pick 22 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Kyle McCord in the 201st overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Alfred Collins, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Kyren Lacy at pick 249 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jake Majors at No. 252 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Xavian Sorey Jr. in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A big swing on Nick Jackson at pick 254, well ahead of any board in the building. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Cody Simon at the 256th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
