The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Donovan Smith, the No. 95 name on the board, in the Round 6 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They robbed the room for Walter Nolen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nicholas Singleton in pick 86 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 125th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Connor Colby slid further than he should have, and the 160th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let a quarterback like Donovan Smith reach slot 197 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 248 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
