The Packers put a flag in the ground for Xavian Sorey Jr., 80 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
However the rest shakes out, Hairston at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Shavon Revel Jr. in pick No. 59 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at pick 90. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Maxwell Hairston in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Tory Horton in No. 163, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Zach Rice at the 202nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavian Sorey Jr. at Round 7, Pick 35 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
