Thirty-one other rooms let Kurtis Rourke slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at No. 249. Highway robbery.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
The board had Josh Conerly Jr. higher than No. 59, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Maxwell Hairston in pick 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in slot 129, where Armand Membou graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Daylen Everette at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 202nd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kurtis Rourke in pick No. 249 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
