You build a draft on nights like this. Jonah Savaiinaea had no business being available in slot 90, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The Monheim pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A cornerback of that caliber at the 43rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Barrett Carter in slot 59, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Colston Loveland slid further than he should have, and No. 75 is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jonah Savaiinaea in pick No. 90 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malachi Moore in the 112th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 28, where Armand Membou graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Benjamin Morrison at pick 149 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Jonah Monheim, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Quincy Riley went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Mason Taylor in the 249th pick; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
