When a board-topper like Landon Jackson slides to slot 119, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Campbell pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman still on the board. They will need Dellinger to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Value with a capital V on Shavon Revel Jr. in Round 2, Pick 27, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Luther Burden III in pick 60 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Barrett Carter at the 90th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Landon Jackson at pick No. 119 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Armand Membou higher than No. 127, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Kurtis Rourke in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A curious use of the 137th pick. Interior defensive lineman needed the pick; a linebacker in Jihaad Campbell did not.
Raheim Sanders at pick 164 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Jonah Monheim in pick No. 165, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Daylen Everette at the 175th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Gunnar Helm at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Blake Miller still on the board at No. 202. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Garrett Dellinger at the 203rd pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They liked Julian Fleming enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 207. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Zach Rice at Round 6, Pick 38, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
Mason Taylor in No. 249 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
