The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalen Milroe fell into pick 129. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
Dellinger has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
The Najee Harris pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a downhill hitter at safety, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
A conviction pick on JT Tuimoloau at Round 2, Pick 27 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tacario Davis in the 90th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Jalen Milroe in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Barrett Carter at par in pick No. 163, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Cobee Bryant in pick 165 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Theo Wease Jr. in the 166th pick, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tory Horton a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 170 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Dellinger well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Benjamin Morrison at Round 7, Pick 9 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaylin Noel. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mason Taylor in slot 249, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
