Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Fred Davis. He came off 134 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
The Sanders steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th pick they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter.
Malaki Starks at pick No. 65 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Jake Majors at pick 90 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in No. 102, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Harold Perkins Jr. in slot 129, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Smael Mondon Jr. while clear needs at quarterback sat open.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deone Walker at No. 131. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at slot 163 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to the 165th pick, and they scooped it up. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 202 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
J.Michael Sturdivant in pick No. 203 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Jonah Monheim in Round 6, Pick 32 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
They paid a round early for Kyren Lacy in the 223rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Garrett Dellinger at par in the 237th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A wild overpay on Jacobe Covington in pick No. 238, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Julian Fleming at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Mason Taylor at pick 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Fred Davis in Round 7, Pick 32 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Zach Rice in slot 249 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dorian Strong at No. 250 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Jasheen Davis at the 251st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Raheim Sanders still on the board at No. 255. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Xavier Nwankpa at slot 256 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
