Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Turner Corcoran at the 240th overall pick is 98 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A F, plain and simple.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
The veteran additions, Creed Humphrey chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
Pick-by-Pick
The board fumbled Mason Graham all the way to the Round 1 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
In pick No. 29 they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Malaki Starks in No. 59 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Tate Ratledge in the 60th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Will Johnson at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Luther Burden III at Round 2, Pick 30 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jack Sawyer in pick No. 64 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
