You build a draft on nights like this. Jake Majors had no business being available in the 161st overall pick, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Spending an early pick on safety with cornerback, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jahdae Barron in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Malaki Starks at safety with cornerback, quarterback and other spots open.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at the 126th pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jake Majors at the 161st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 201 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jonah Monheim reach slot 248 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
