You build a draft on nights like this. Harold Perkins Jr. had no business being available in pick No. 200, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If Dellinger pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen Milroe at the 60th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in pick 101, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at pick No. 122. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Deontae Lawson all the way to No. 127, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach slot 130 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jake Majors at the 162nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Hancock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Taking Jared Wilson in slot 242 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Garrett Dellinger at the 250th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
