Green Bay Packers

Singleton should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Nicholas Singleton at No. 242 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.5 · Pick 37 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 28
Emeka Egbuka in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 70
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 80
A tidy bit of business in pick 91, where Darien Porter graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 61
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at slot 104 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Maxwell Hairston · CB · rank 100
You do not let a cornerback like Maxwell Hairston reach No. 127 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.6 · Pick 144 · Jake Majors · C · rank 95
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the 144th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.24 · Pick 162 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 85
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.25 · Pick 163 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 84
A linebacker of that caliber at the 163rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 128
Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Jaishawn Barham · LB · rank 206
They paid sticker price for Jaishawn Barham in No. 204, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.28 · Pick 242 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 103
Nicholas Singleton in the 242nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.29 · Pick 243 · Jonah Monheim · C · rank 213
Jonah Monheim at the 243rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.36 · Pick 250 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 260
They paid a round early for Garrett Dellinger in slot 250, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
