The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kevin Winston Jr., pick No. 168, roughly 76 picks past where he belonged.
Reaching for Griffith left real value on the table behind him. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a featured back, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Tyleik Williams in No. 46 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalon Walker at pick 77 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tez Johnson reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 168th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nicholas Singleton in slot 170 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on JJ Pegues at Round 5, Pick 33, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Clay Webb in the 209th pick, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Jamaree Caldwell in pick No. 248, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
