You could see the war room lean forward. T.J. Sanders at the 186th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Evan Stewart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Dani Dennis-Sutton was still sitting there in slot 90, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board fumbled Cam Ward all the way to Round 4, Pick 26, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Devin Neal in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: T.J. Sanders still on the board at No. 186. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
