This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cobee Bryant, the No. 186 name on the board, stolen at the 219th pick.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Frazier to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A quiet steal in pick 69: Josaiah Stewart for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Gunnar Helm is a better player than the 77th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good price on Ozzy Trapilo in the 97th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Charles Grant. It fills a real need, too.
Brashard Smith in slot 145 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cobee Bryant in No. 219 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Miles Frazier at pick No. 222 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Zeek Biggers at pick No. 240 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
