The rest of the league will want that one back. Omarion Hampton tumbling to the Patriots in No. 72 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Norman-Lott to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to pick No. 42, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a running back like Omarion Hampton reach Round 3, Pick 8 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Smael Mondon Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Taking Dylan Fairchild in slot 108 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jake Majors in the 111th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Danny Stutsman at the 141st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 144 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Donovan Jackson in Round 7, Pick 4 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
