You could see the war room lean forward. Maxwell Hairston at pick 157 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They are betting Reed-Adams proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a load in the middle at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They will replay Malaki Starks at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Malachi Moore at safety with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots open.
Fair-plus on Jake Majors, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Luke Kandra at pick 114 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Ar'maj Reed-Adams in Round 5, Pick 10 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Maxwell Hairston at the 157th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Clay Webb in slot 225 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Logan Parr at par in pick No. 231, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Jack Kiser in pick 251 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
