Nobody else had Gabe Jacas anywhere near slot 187. The Dolphins did, by 92 spots, and that gap is the whole story. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
That Neal pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in pick No. 49, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jalon Walker in Round 2, Pick 19 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in pick 53, where Tyler Booker graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Dillon Gabriel at No. 98, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Luke Kandra at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Daylen Everette in slot 116; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach pick 152 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Devin Neal in slot 154, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Shemar Turner. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gabe Jacas in the 187th pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Trey Wedig in the 224th overall pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Micah Morris. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Xzavier Henderson, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
