The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Barryn Sorrell, 104 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Getting Pierce where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 76th overall pick with a little surplus value in Omarr Norman-Lott. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Will Howard here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Hollin Pierce in pick No. 171 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Etienne at Round 5, Pick 36 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Jason Marshall Jr. slipping to Round 6, Pick 28 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
