Call it larceny. Ollie Gordon II sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.
If Sorrell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to the 56th pick, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Tez Johnson at No. 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Azareye'h Thomas in the 125th overall pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They reached a country mile for Barryn Sorrell at pick 199, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Roc Taylor in slot 237, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Ollie Gordon II at Round 7, Pick 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
