Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
The whole projection now runs through Jalen Milroe; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, tight end and other spots went begging. If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Sonny Styles in the 52nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Domani Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 26. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Kalel Mullings in pick 83, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A surprising call. With edge rusher, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 84 on Kevin Winston Jr., a safety they were not short of.
No edge and no loss on Aireontae Ersery in No. 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Nic Anderson in slot 141, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Jaishawn Barham went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
