The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Haynes King went at No. 152, a good 36 picks before the board was ready. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Stewart steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 17 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyleik Williams in No. 48 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Aeneas Peebles, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Evan Stewart in pick 115. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Haynes King in the 152nd overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
