When a board-topper like Savion Williams slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cardinals did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Cross III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a blindside protector, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Marcus Mbow a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Barrett Carter in pick 76 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Howard Cross III at pick No. 115 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Savion Williams in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
