Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cardinals shredded theirs for Tyreem Powell. He came off 289 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Royals at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Aeneas Peebles at the 47th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Emery Jones Jr. this early at pick 78. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jalen Royals was still sitting there in slot 114, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
JJ Pegues in pick No. 153 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
